Taken in Darling Street. The electric tram (bus). Note the "thingies" on the roof of the bus that had to be in contact with overhead wires for the bus to run.If these things came loose, the conductor (Cape slang: gartjie") had take a long pole, stored somewhere on the bus and replace these contact "thingies." Looked very dangerous at the time.
