Japanese Oni Noh Mask- my favorite cultural mask. Once thought as a spirit that brought disasters- it is now used to resemble protection- driving bad luck away. An idea for the next phase of my "shirt" tattoo
Samurai by Wayne Reynolds - Samurai is the Japanese word for someone bound by honor. These men dedicated their lives to their daimyo, Shogun, and their emperor. They would master all of the arts to their best abilities. Even the art of killing.
In battle, katana was typically paired with the medium sword wakizashi. Both were worn by members of the Japanese warrior class. The two weapons together were called the daisho, and represented the social power and personal honor of the samurai.
