Noor Inayat Khan was an Allied radio operator & spy. She was the first female radio operator to be sent from Britain in June 1943 into occupied France to aid the French Resistance and was captured by the Gestapo in October 1943. She was eventually sent to Dachau Concentration Camp and was executed there on September 13, 1944 along with 3 other women by a shot to the head. Their bodies were immediately burned in the crematorium. She was 30 years old.

Eileen "Didi" Nearne (1921-2010) was a member of the UK's Special Operations Executive (SOE) during WW2 and served in occupied France as a radio operator under the codename "Rose". In 1944, her transmitter was detected and she was arrested by the Gestapo. She suffered vicious torture at the Gestapo HQ in Paris and eventually was transferred to Ravensbrück and from there to other camps. She was continually tortured until she escaped in April 1945, hid, and waited for the arrival of US troops.
