Phineas Parkhurst Quimby (February 16, 1802 – January 16, 1866), was a New England philosopher, magnetizer, mesmerist, healer, and inventor, who resided in Maine. Quimby was a catalyzing personality whose work is widely recognized as leading to the New Thought movement and even to have influenced the "talking cure" methodology of early psychology.

Phineas Quimby is considered by many to be the father of the New Thought movement. He wore a lot of hats during his life.
