Late 19th century map showing the location of the walls and gates of old Nottingham. Update from Nottingham City Council Archaeologist: The line is wrong at the north. The wall went part way round the town and was on the line of Parliament Street. The wall was never completed but at the east side of the town it was marshland; a ditch, sloping ground and the marshland acted as sufficient defence on this side so a wall was not needed.
