We are Wilderness - The wildlife during my two week stay in the Odzala Wilderness Camps (one week with guests, and the next week on a photo shoot for Wilderness) was exceptional. 10 primate species (including chimpanzee and western lowland gorilla) and two bongo sightings were probably the highlights. The bongo sightings were both from Lango Camp ... the first a herd of 15 animals seen in the morning and the second a herd of 4 in the late afternoon. Click on the image to view the full gallery.

We are Wilderness - Lately we have been enjoying some outstanding brown hyaena sightings close to camp. The Kalahari Pride of lions has also stepped up, providing us with some incredible sightings, especially the Lekhubu Male, who is fast approaching the status of a legendary Kalahari black-maned lion. Animals
We Are Wilderness - A lone black backed jackal at Nebrowni waterhole in Etosha, attacks and persues an adult springbuck for approx. 6 minutes. A short while later he tries his luck with a sleeping zebra! Any thoughts on whether this could be rabies? Large groups of jackal kill springbuck daily at Gemsbokvlakte, but a single jackal? We Are Wilderness - Thanks to a very generous donation from guests who stayed at Toka Leya, Sinde Village received a long-awaited solar pump at the Twabuka Middle School. The solar pump was installed and began pumping water on the 30th May 2013. The school previously had no access to water and this pump, together with the tower and water tanks which are still to be delivered, will make a huge difference in the student’s lives.
