Delta DC-4 interior 1946 with Stewardess. I can travel faster, cheaper, and safer nowadays but not with the same comfort and civilized environment. I'd sacrifice a little speed and economy for more of the latter.
1947 ♦ October 26 – Pan Am Flight 923, a Douglas DC-4, struck Tamgas Mountain on Annette Island, Alaska, killing all 18 passengers and crew on board; the cause is never determined.

"Clipper Racer" soon after repainting in Pan Am's second postwar scheme with white top and larger 'PAA' on the fin. Ex USAAF 45-0534 in May 1947 and returnd to the USAF in November 1953. Delivered to USAAF as C-54E 44-9120 in May 1945. Converted to DC-4 standard by Douglas in late 1945 and delivered to TWA on 5 February 1946. Named "Arc de Triomphe". Seen at Gander during a trans-atlantic crossing. Destroyed by fire at La Guardia on 28 September 1948. Hallo, Wie kan mij helpen aan foto`s van de KLM DC-4 twente Graag ook uit het tijdperk toen deze nog in dienst was bij KLM. Ik weet dat hij ook nog een poos in dienst geweest bij Trans Europa,wellicht iemand meer weet over de historie,vanaf aankomst naar KLM tot het einde?? Alvast enorm bedankt.

Trans-Meridian were based at Southend. This flew back-to-back-charters for workers of the Ford Motor Company who had plants in Cork and at Dagenham in Essex. Note the rod beneath the tail to prevent the nose tipping up if the load was unevenly distributed. Later operated by Dan-Air London. - Photo taken at Cork (ORK / EICK) in Ireland on July 23, 1964.
