Friendships develop and grow over time. There are lots of different ways to visualize this concept for kids, but I particularly like Michelle Garcia Winner’s friendship pyramid. I like the the pyramid because it’s a visual representation to kids that, as you move through friendships, the number of people in each category gets smaller and smaller.
Anxiety is common in children with Asperger's and other autism spectrum disorders. Here is a set of 32 cards for you to download and cut out to play a therapy game. The cards feature eight children with different anxiety profiles. Card users identify with the children described on the cards and increase awareness of their own anxiety issues. 21 situation cards are provided in this activity. Many of these situations come straight from the mouths of my students. The situations are suited for grades 4-6, although you could use some of the cards for the younger grades. Directions: Students are to look at each situation, and the responses given for each situation.
Superflex Coloring Page. For each character, Identify the Problem each Unthinkable Causes, and the Strategies Superflex uses to defeat the Unthinkable. Then have the participant color in their character. For Superflex, just list what strategies he uses to defeat the Unthinkables.
