This board focuses on antique Ndebele beadwork, made for everyday use. The Southern Ndebele are mostly in South Africa and Zimbabwe. In the 16th century, Portuguese settlers introduced brightly colored glass beads that Ndebele people used to create garments, jewelry, blankets and headwear for both daily and ceremonial use. Traditionally, geometric shapes are the predominant design of the beadwork.
