Herne the Hunter. I don't know the artist, but I love the image. Traditionally, Herne loses his life either at Halloween or the Winter Solstice, and is born again as the Green Man in the Spring around the Equinox. Yasmine Galenorn, Herne The Hunter, Dragons, Vikings, Legends And Myths, Celtic Mythology, Walk In The Woods, Winter Solstice, Green Man

As Herne the Hunter he is seen as the Leader of the Wild Hunt. As an Antlered Giant, he is rumoured to still survive and live in the Forests of Windsor Great Park. His longevity is owed to the Cult of Cernunnos, who have also linked his generosity to provide for the Tribe to the Legend of Robin Hood. Herne is a much older figure in Legend and Myth. In this ability to provide for the Tribe as the Great Hunter of the Wood, he is forever linked to the Horned God.
