Lustful Whispers

Lustful Whispers I love pictures. I am always wandering through sites, looking at beautiful works of art. This is a blog is just to keep some pretty...

Redirect

This was the evening of the first day of my late season trip to the Sierra. We drove all day over Sonora Pass and down 395 to Mono Lake. We went and pitched out camp in the lower Lee Vining campground, had some dinner and made ready for night photography. We arrived at the tufa garden at around 10PM and it was pitch dark. Couldnt see a thing! The stars were all out with just a sliver of the setting moon. Mono Lake has very little light contamination so the stars were very intense. There were a…

Postcards from Clementine

Nineteen years ago this month, the Clementine mission sent some amazing views from the moon.

Preview of a Forthcoming Supernova

Supernova Supernovae can occur one of two ways. The first occurs when a white dwarf—the vestigial ember of a dead star—passes so close to a living star that its matter leaks into the white dwarf. This causes a catastrophic explosion. However most people understand supernovae as the death of a massive star. When the star runs out of fuel toward the end of its life, the gravity at its heart sucks the surrounding mass into its center. At temperatures rocketing above 100 billion degrees…

Venus - one day is longer than its entire year. It takes Venus 243 Earth days to completely rotate on its axis, but just 225 days to orbit the sun. Venus is one of two planets that rotates in reverse, called retrograde motion. Venus beneath the clouds via radar mapping. Amazingly, a single day on Venus is longer than its entire year. It takes Venus 243 Earth days to completely rotate on its axis, but just 225 days to orbit the sun. Stranger still, Venus is one of two planets that rotates in reverse, a phenomenon called retrograde motion. Most theories attribute the reverse rotation to an ancient planetary collision.

Venus is the brightest planet in our solar system, has a hellish atmosphere, and is covered in volcanoes. Learn more about planet Venus here. Cosmos, Earth Science, Science And Nature, Planeta Venus, Space Probe, Planets And Moons, Dwarf Planet, Space Facts, Space And Astronomy

Inside the Planet Venus (Infographic)

Venus, the second closest planet to our sun, is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Venus is one of the brightest natural objects in the night sky – Learn more at SPACE.com.

Hemispheric View of Venus

The hemispheric view of Venus, as revealed by more than a decade of radar investigations culminating in the 1990-1994 Magellan mission, is centered at 270 degrees east longitude. The Magellan spacecraft imaged more than 98% of Venus at a resolution of about 100 meters; the effective resolution of this image is about 3 km. A mosaic of the Magellan images (most with illumination from the west) forms the image base. Gaps in the Magellan coverage were filled with images from the Earth-based…
