Water Play in Early Intervention
I love water as therapy tool because of the variety of activities you can do with it. Variety of activities = variety of vocabulary!Let's refresh. What do I mean when I say "Target Words". How to Help Kids Learn Self-Control
Kids are naturally impulsive, not self-controlled! When kids are frustrated, nervous, or filled with other emotions they often act out in inappropriate ways instead of using self-control. In this social story, Katie will struggle with self-control at home and her brother will struggle at school. Then Grandpa will take the kids to a construction site and teach them 4 easy steps to learn self-control using the acronym S.T.O.P.
Is speech therapy for toddlers necessary?
This is the most asked and the most difficult question to answer. We have free speech and language screening tools I recommend every parent read. It has good information on expected speech and language skills by age. HOWEVER, there is a range for what is considered normal. If your child hasn't met a particular milestone, it DOES NOT mean he/she necessarily needs speech therapy. If you have a concern, seek advice. Why not? It doesn’t hurt. It can only help!
