Can you believe this recovery? 48 Tons of Silver Recovered From World War II Shipwreck.The Tampa, Fla.-based Odyssey Marine Exploration, Inc. announced that it had recovered 48 tons of silver bullion from the SS Gairsoppa, a sunken British cargo ship in three miles of water off the coast of Ireland. A metal Detector enthusiast named Dave Crisp from Wiltshire in the UK was busy detecting on a farm when he found 21 roman coins. When he dug deeper he found a staggering treasure. The Wolfsegg Iron, also known as The Salzburg Cube, was found buried in Tertiary lignite in Wolfsegg am Hausruck, Austria, in 1885. Professor named Adolf Gurlt studied the cube and determined it to be part of a meteorite. But further studies by the Natural History Museum proved that it was not in fact a meteorite, but artificially manufactured from an unknown source.
