I used my favorite cremini mushrooms because they have an even meatier flavor than regular button mushrooms. And as for the garlic, I always add garlic to my dishes. Always! I chose pearl onions because as they cook in the slow cooker with the ribs, they become so tender and caramelized, and add so much to this dish!
