An extremely rare and special sighting in our area...the African Barred Owlet fixes us with a large-eyed stare.  These beautiful tiny, partly diurnal owlets are round-headed and without ear tufts. They are thought to be a species under threat and very little is known about them. Small mammals, birds, reptiles, frogs and all manner of other insects are their prey.
