Sold at Auction: An important shamshir
Persian shamshir, circa 1800, massive curved flat, fine damascus, single-edged blade, a cartouche with inscription in Arabic & remains of gilding on a side, gold-inlaid stamps "ARCOTE NOV. 4 1845" in a cartouche & "CIVILIAN" under a horse; gilt-brass hilt, richly engraved with floral motifs, green, ivory grip scales, complete with sword knot in the shape of a green-&-gold cone, dimensions: 88 cm.
