Table Mountain Cableway.
The Cableway was built in the period 1926-1929 and although these images might have been taken then I have a hunch that they date from about 1900, in other words about 26 years earlier. Could it be that this was an earlier separate undertaking? Any input would be most welcome. Photo; Thanks to fellow flickr member emmyeustace for the use. Christmas shoppers 1953.
The hustle and bustle of Adderley str. during Dec. '53. I fondly remember the station Tea Room. During the late fifties as a lad of 12 , I sometimes accompanied my dad on his business trips to C.T and after the car was parked this was our first port of call for a steaming cup of coffee. Op 10 Januarie 2014 is 'n besondere mylpaal bereik toe die kabelkar sy 23-miljoenste besoeker verwelkom het.
