Cornelis Jacob Langenhoven (13/8/1873-15/7/1932) was 'n Suid-Afrikaanse skrywer, redakteur en politikus.  Hy het as skrywersname C.J. Langenhoven en Sagmoedige Neelsie gebruik.  Sy rol in die Afrikaanse literatuur en kultuurgeskiedenis was formidabel. Hy word beskou as die man wat die Afrikaners leer lees het. C.J. Langenhoven is mees bekend vir Die Stem van Suid-Afrika wat hy in 1918 geskryf het.

Bartolomeu Dias (c. 1451 – 29 May a nobleman of the Portuguese royal household, was a Portuguese explorer. He sailed around the southernmost tip of Africa in reaching the Indian Ocean from the Atlantic, the first European known to have done so.

Between 1903 and 1909, up to 800 Boer families trekked to Argentina’s east coast.  They had suffered badly in the 1899-1902 Anglo-Boer War, lost family members in Kitchener’s  concentration camps or had their farmhouses destroyed by British troops. Most of them fought in the war against Britain and they had no desire to live under their conqueror’s thumb. Of their descendants still lives in Patagonia
