The photo was taken during the test of the marathon of the first modern Olympic Games, in Athens in 1896. The athlete, in the Middle, is Harilaos Vasilakos, student of Athens (1877-1964), who finished second behind his compatriot, berger Spyridon Louis (1873-1940). Two weeks earlier, Vasilakos had won the gold medal in the marathon at the 1st Panhellenic games, March 10, 1896.
