Lamu, Kenya Once a town prized for its arts, poetry, and politics, Lamu, is now an obscure tourist attraction. The town was founded in the 14th century and has maintained much of its Swahili architecture. The city as also been touted by publications as one of the oldest and best-preserved Swahili settlements in East Africa.
