Kentucky State Police Trooper Johnny M. Edrington. Killed in line of duty Dec. 20th, 1988. It is suspected he was shot during traffic stop on KY 80 seven miles west of London, KY in Laurel County. His murder remains #UNSOLVED. He was 34 yrs old, his wife was expecting their first child. Someone somewhere knows what happened. Keep sharing this information, please. Bardstown, Ky., police officer Jason Ellis had stopped to remove debris off the road when an unknown assailant ambushed him, killing him with a shotgun barrage. Ellis' funeral, held last Thursday, drew law enforcement officers from several states, but the most touching tribute came from Ellis' K-9 unit partner Figo, who placed his paw on Ellis' casket-stand when he was led up for one last goodbye.
Trooper Lee Trebu Huffman, age 27, was struck and killed by an automobile May 19, 1953, while working a vehicle accident in Hardin County. He was assigned to Post 4 Elizabethtown and had served with the Kentucky State Police for two years. He was survived by his wife and young son. Trooper Huffman is buried at Zachary Taylor Cemetery in Louisville, Ky. In honor of his service and sacrifice, KY 218 in Metcalfe County has been designated the Trooper Lee T. Huffman Memorial Highway.
Trooper Robert Renaker Miller, age 24, was involved in a two vehicle crash on US 25 near the Cabindale community of Boone County on February 14, 1951. Trooper Miller was en route to a call for assistance when his vehicle slid out of control on icy roads and struck a utility truck. Trooper Miller died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. He was a three year veteran of the Kentucky State Police and was assigned to Post 6, Dry Ridge.
