King Somhlolo - 3m high Bronze Sculpture

The 3m high sculpture is ready to be transported to Swaziland. Pictures are here of the Maquette and the process Sarah followed for this commission. The Swazi King Somhlolo had a vision that he said made it made clear that Swazis should pick the Bible and steer clear of money. King Somhlolo, also known as King Sobhuza I, reigned between 1815 and 1836.

King Somhlolo was also know as the Father of Mysteries. He left the Swazi people with a legacy that influenced their way of life and philosophy. Apparently, one night shortly before his death, he had a prophetic vision. He saw white skinned people with hair like the tails of cattle. He also saw that they brought two things with them. The first was a scroll or book and the second a round piece of metal. These have been interpreted to represent the Christian Bible and money.

Work on this 3m high bronze has started. The maquette gives the client an opportunity to approve the 3D work on a small scale before it is scaled up to the final size. This sculpture will now be created in wax and cast into bronze.
