Joseph Lyons & Co. established in 1808, was one of the largest food manufacturers of the 1900s. The company's tea rooms were hugely popular, especially amongst the working classes. Also known for the care taken in the design & decor of their shops. Lyons & Co's fortunes declined in the late 1960s & in the early 1980s, the company had been broken up & sold.
