Video on how to make leather shoes from scratch in a day... thanks Trackers

The crew goes beyond basic moccasin making to recreate a pair of traditional century German footwear. They learn both old and new skills of DIY shoemakin.

Layers without bulk. I like it. This dress could work for Ayla. Don't know the time period, though...:

Mediaeval or rather viking like Surcot made of heavy fir-tree green linen (damn expensive stuff). Dark brown passament all around the dress. Surcot I.

I haven't seen this pattern for the Viking apron-dress before, but it makes sense. The trim on the side is wrong, though; on the extant piece from Hedeby, the trim was placed over a dart.

Viking Hanging Dress from Haithabu. laid out opposite from a modern garment, but the selvedge was incorporated into strengthening it, and there is minimal waste of valuable material.
