blood-eagle - a horrific method of torture described by the Nordic sagas. The ribs of the victim were cut by the spine and broken open thus resembling wings. The lungs were pulled out through the wounds in the back and laid across the shoulders.
The Pear of Anguish was used during the Middle Ages as a way to torture women who conducted a miscarriage, liars, blasphemers and homosexuals. A pear-shaped instrument was inserted into one of the victim’s orifices.
