Many of the most critically acclaimed Asian films of all time were produced during this decade, including Yasujirō Ozu's Tokyo Story (1953), Satyajit Ray's The Music Room (1958), Raj Kapoor's Awaara (1951) and the Akira Kurosawa films Rashomon (1950), Seven Samurai (1954) etc. Japanese cinema later became one of the main inspirations behind the New Hollywood movement of the 60s to 80s.
