A veteran of the Czech and French air forces, P/O Emil A Foit was commissioned into the RAFVR on 17 August 1940 at the Czech Depot at RAF Cosford. After going to No 6 OTU at RAF Sutton Bridge on 28 September, he joined No 85 Squadron RAF at RAF Church Fenton on 16 October but was transferred to No 310 Squadron RAF 6 days later.
