Sands of Time | House and Leisure - This picture "makes me smile" and that's where I was going to pin it. When I followed the pin, I found a series of pictures from a travel story from a trip to Nambia. The pictures are wonderful and included this one. A remote and beautiful place. Stunning.
The African Elephant occurs in 37 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, & in the arid deserts of Namibia & Mali. The total population is believed to have suffered a decline due to poaching for ivory & meat, which has been the major threat to this species. The loss & fragmentation of habitat caused by human population expansion & rapid conversion is currently perceived to be the most important threat.
