Sri Lankan food is one the most interesting cuisines in SouthEast, and I thoroughly enjoyed every meal during my 10-day trip. The food in Sri Lanka is similar to it’s close neighbor, India- but differs in many unique ways. More specifically, the locally grown spices in Sri Lanka sets it apart from other SouthEast countries.
Popular dish in Sri Lanka - string hoppers (stringy rice noodle textured flour mix is laid onto round shaped molds and steamed ) Kiri Hodi Curry ( rich coconut milk based curry infused with turmeric,fenugreek seeds , curry leaves & rampe leaves) Pol Sambol ( grated coconut mixed with spicy chilli flakes, red chilli powder, Maldives fish , lime juice & salt.
Hong Kong, at the epitome of Cantonese food, is world famous for it’s dim sum. If you’ve never had it before, dim sum is food prepared as small bite-sized dishes, that is traditionally served in small steamer baskets.
