After her first book sold out, Tilleke Schwarz (NE) decided to self-publish the next one. Savor the whimsey of her embroidery while tasting the complexities she faced upon deciding to finance - and take control of - all decisions herself.

Amazwi Abesifazane (Voices of Women) was intended to complement the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission by organizing the making and display of a substantial archive of hand embroidered ‘memory cloths’ which would record women’s individual experiences under apartheid. Each cloth is based on the theme of the ‘Day I Will Never Forget’.
