Mom was a thrifty gal and I remember her going to the downtown beauty school to have her hair done. After the 1970s, though, hair styles became much easier, and mom never had her hair done. However, I so remember sitting and waiting for her hair to dry (and watching Lars) in these kind of contraptions. Even now, I go to a beauty school for a facial now and then when I can get off work early.
