An Ottoman Yataghan dated to 1767 AD with a finely watered steel curved blade with a flat back edge and inscriptions and star motifs along both sides of the blade.

Ottoman yatagan / yataghan, 19th c, straight steel blade with gilt inscription within star and cartouches to one side and tugra and longer inscription to other with date 1237AH/1821AD, raised floral bosses to forte and to horn hilt, the leather scabbard with gold stitching, brass end, the date 1237AH/1821AD embossed in leather - 27 1/2in (69.7cm).

Ottoman yatagan / yataghan, 19th century, watered-steel single-edged slightly curved blade with single fuller, the chappe with cusped cartouche containing elegant arabesque, the interstices with small leaf-motifs, one side of the blade with cusped cartouche issuing palmette and containing later owner's inscription, Sahib Kuchak Husni Agha, with possibly associated silver hilt of typical form engraved with floral motifs, the silver scabbard elegantly worked in repoussé, 31½in. (80cm.) long.

Ottoman kilij (saber), 19th century. The blade is signed by its maker, Acem Oglu. The Arabic inscriptions decorating it include: "Oh from the gentle God whose gentleness is without end, You are the Powerful, we will love You in Your palace on the day of judgement." The foliate ornament on the guard and scabbard mounts shows the strong influence of European design in Turkish art of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Bequest of George C.
