Nippon Berry Bowl Strainer Hand Painted 1910-1911

This is an antique hand painted Nippon berry bowl strainer. The "M" in wreath maker's mark identifies this piece as early Morimura Bros. Co. Noritake, which dates this, to my knowledge, to 1910-1911. Morimura was founded in 1876. They became Noritake Co. Ltd. "Nippon", meaning "Japan", was used on imports into the United States from 1891 to 1921. Cheery yellow and white daisy flowers and green leaves are decorated with raised gold and set against a white background. A gold band circles the floral decor and the interior closer to the rim is a tan ivory color. The rim is decorated with gold that drops down slightly inside and outside the bowl. The exterior and bottom are white except for the yellow and gold that decorate the three feet. The condition of this piece is very good. There are no chips or cracks. There are small 1/4" scrapes in the green leaf decoration on each of the three floral motifs. Most of the gold surrounding the drainage holes has rubbed off and a small amount of gold around the rim has rubbed off. Please ask if you would like additional photos. 7 1/2" Diameter 2 3/4" High
