Local Souls by Allan Gurganus - I found these three excruciatingly long stories just too long and about nothing.  The first story was forgettable, the second story a little memorable, but could have been told in half the words, and the third story never had anything happen in it until the end, so was it really worth reading all the before to get to the thing that happened?  No. I won't read the Confederate Widow book after this, either.  I read an article about her once, and that will…
