A beautiful antique porcelain Veilleuse-Theieres, or 'night-light' teapot. Items like this one were used to hold a candle - they acted as both a nightlight and a tea warmer. The legend is that Napoleon didn't like to sleep in the dark and started using them in his tent, so they became popular. This example is in the Trenton Teapot Collection which has the world's largest collection of these interesting vessels, over 500 dating from 1750-1860.
