Blå Jungfrun is an uninhabited island in the middle of the Kalmar Strait between Oskarshamn and Öland. For seafarers it used to be a mythical island that was sometimes called Blåkulla (the Brocken), and according to the myth this is where the witches flew on Maundy Thursday to celebrate Whiches' sabbath. SInce 1926 the island is a national park and it consists of ruddy, bare, ice-polished granite cliffs as well as large boulder fields.
