A very basic shape sorter used in a toddler months to 2 and a half year olds) Montessori classroom. The shapes are isolated (one shape at a time) to teach the child grasping, fitting and shape discrimination. Develops eye and hand coordination.
To improvise use a piggy bank and real coins! Separate the pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters and let put the coins in. You can even have a bottle ( i used a glass milk bottle) you can use any food plastic bottle or cup. Keeps them entertained.
