As you climb the Clayhead Cliffs to the ridge, you're rewarded with shimmery blue, wind-whipped views of sea and mainland on one side and penny-colored ponds and brush on the other. You'll emerge from the Clayhead Trail close to where the main road ends, at a beach three quarters of a mile from the North Lighthouse. Walk along the beach, and at high tide, rocks in the water clap like a polite audience each time the surf recedes. It's an Andrew Wyeth painting writ large.
