One of  the Maramures county most famous tourist attraction! In 1935 a wood sculpture, Ioan Patras, started carving oak crosses for the cemetery. He painted each cross blue, included a scene from their lives (or death!) and a humorous poem on each.  There are scenes of a woman working at her loom, a barber cutting hair, a woman who operated a distillery, shepherds tending their sheep, etc. An alcoholic shown drinking from a bottle and others who lived a less than ideal life have it displayed…
