Pleated silk scarf with textured 3D pattern using Arashi Shibori fabric manipulation techniques - creative textiles; wearable art // Anne Selby

This is an Arashi Shibori Pleated Scarf made by Anne Selby. It's made up from six layers of lightweight silk and is called 'Peacock Stole'. To make the pleats Anne Selby steams and dry's the fabric. This piece stood out to me so much because it resembles peacock feathers so well. This really is a great fusion of textiles and technology because the balance is perfect.

Pole wrapped shibori from notesfromnorma.blogspot.com. Such a beautiful pattern on a knit would be an excellent choice for my project. There is a subtle horizontal pattern filled with movement here that I love and that I think suits the combination of horizontal and vertical stripes in my project.
