Can’t leave Japan without having BBQ!! A bit pricey but Jojoen beef was the BEST!!! Don’t even bother with anything else there. So tasty!! If you go to the Shinjuku location you’ll get a great view of the city as well.

However with increasingly unstable relations between the vendors (for whom this is their livelihood) and tourists (for whom it is a fascinating attraction), it is important to know how to “do” Tsukiji properly.

For touristy Japanese knickknacks, the best places to shop are Nakamise in Asakusa and the Oriental Bazaar in Omotesando, which stock all the kitschy things like kanji-emblazoned T-shirts, foreigner-sized kimonos, ninja outfits for kids and ersatz samurai swords that can be surprisingly difficult to find elsewhere.
