Foundation single crochet (fsc) aka chainless crochet.It's a foundation chain and one row of single crochet simultaneously. By using this method it creates a start edge on your work that is more elastic, then what you get when you first ch and then work sc into each ch. It's also very practical when you don't know how many stitches you need to start with for your project
