I love all David McCullough books. His newest one that focuses on Americans in Paris in the 1930s and their influence on American society once they came home was really insightful and wonderful. I highly recommend!

I have read anecdotes that the shooter - a Hungarian Auxiliary - was drunk when he did this, and upon sobering up, was so horrified at his deed that he committed suicide.  I feel no compassion for him.
