You can scale Mt Walkins from the valley, but it is a vertical climb. Here is a photo from Chris McNamara who commented "Tommy starting up the dyno pitch on the South Face of Mt. Watkins, Yosemite Valley. Clouds Rest in the background. Very very snowy for May."  Only Gifted climbers should try this. The rest should use the trailhead from Hwy120.

The 5-mile-long Mirror Lake Loop Trail opened late October 2012. Located on the east end of the valley, the trail follows Tenaya Creek around Mirror Lake. It was closed back in March 2009 due to a large rockfall from Ahwiyah Point near Half Dome.   Here is a photo of the new renovation.

In late spring or early summer, the Glacier Point road is plowed and open to visitors.  The Glacier Point overlook give you a panorama view of the Yosemite Valley below. In this photo, the focal point is the Ahwahnee hotel as seen from 1/2 a mile above the valley floor.  With your eyes you can see the whole panorama view - Truly Awesome!

Staircase Falls is a series of waterfalls located on Gossamer Creek in Yosemite National Park, California. The falls descend a total of 1,300 feet (400 m) into Yosemite Valley over a series of steps. Staircase Falls is relatively ephemeral and only flows after rainfall. It is usually dry by May. The falls are located immediately behind Camp Curry on cliffs below Glacier Point.
