Uffington White Horse, further view: One of the oldest chalk carvings in the UK is the bronze-age Uffington White Horse. Dating back some 3,000 years it's still very visible on the slopes of White Horse Hill, Uffington. It is one of England's most famous prehistoric monuments & has inspired a number of poems and stories inc. in works by G.K. Chesterton, Rosemary Sutcliff & Terry Pratchett.
