The Terracotta Army, XI`an, China. They were originally sculptured and set out in battle formation ( rows of 4, interspersed with horses and chariots) and between the rows of warriors the earth mounds supported the timber roor. Over the years since they were first made ( about 2200 years) they have been vandalised and burnt as the Dynasties fell, then the timber roof failed and earth filled the trenches, hiding the Army until they were discovered in 1974.
