Complaining Never is a Substitute for Execution [VLOG] Dear Entrepreneurs Episode 20 | Season 01 Vlog Every Day In April DIG SOUTH There is always an answer for what you're up against working harder. As obvious as this sounds and as many people don't want to hear it it is the answer they need. As much as we want to achieve our goals real power comes in working toward them more than it does in obtaining them.

Is Your Startup Business the Next Uber? [VLOG] Dear Entrepreneurs Episode 17 | Season 01 #SSSVEDA Vlog Every Day in April #QOTD What is Your Startup Idea? Nearly every startup is trying to be the "Uber Of...(Insert Industry Here)". Believe me I get it Disruption is the big thing now and everyone wants to cash in on it I bring this up because I'm at DIG SOUTH and there are a lot of events here around pitching and raising money. I'm not completely against raising money maybe 80/20 but its more that it's just not for me. I'm not an inventor by nature. I like service based industries because I like people and they are just not as investable as a product based business or developing something you can patent and license. Personally I believe intellectual property aka IP is one of the best investments you can make as an individual. Books and movies and music are still lucrative after the original creator has died and they aren't dependent on the stock market or even the economy doing well for the most part. In many cases the overhead in producing them is lower than it has ever been while the quality is higher and now there are virtually no gatekeepers. That is what I am currently and quietly building a business around while I leverage my personal brand and use it as a proving ground for all of my ideas. Even this vlog is part of the thesis of that business. How much engagement can a serialized vlog around a specific topic with low search engine value low production value (shot and edited completely on a smartphone) actually get? Is producing content in this way practical? How far can it be taken and does the format work? Can it be improved upon to match the quality of higher end productions? What would that take? Is it worth producing an entire film in this way? These are things I want to answer for myself and exploring that with this series has been a revelation into the future of media and content engagement. I feel that "Snapchat as television" could be a thing in the near future I won't be surprised if we see it hit AppleTV within the next few months... I may do a video about that...

What is Your Legacy? What Will You Leave Behind? [VLOG] Dear Entrepreneurs Episode 06 #SSSVEDA April 06 2016 Legacy is something I think about constantly and work towards daily as a human being as a creative professional and as a young entrepreneur. I always am thinking about what I will leave behind and how I will be remembered the dent I want to put in the universe. I work with passion but all directed to a purpose. I constantly preach passion purpose and practicality. The reasoning behind this is that it is how I balance my life as well as my thoughts and emotions. I make decisions that come a pure place and then test them against how the align with my true purpose and then I figure out the steps to make them practical. It's probably the core lesson I could ever pass on to people. If you do that it lets you act with integrity and feel gratified while not taking unnecessary or unrewarding risk and it also allows you to have a sense of accomplishment and direction. If you ask yourself "What do I want to do right now?" Then ask yourself "How does this impact my goals my purpose my long term legacy"? And then "How can I make those things work together can they work together and give me what I really want both now and later"? That is how my mind works moment to moment day to day. So that is how I frame my legacy goals and make sure that my actions add up to the results that I want day in and day out. What is your legacy? What will you leave behind? How will you impact the world around you with the time that you have?

100K YouTube Subscriber Mystery and Season 2 Update! Dear Entrepreneurs Episode 30 | Season 01 Finale #SSSVEDA Vlog Every Day in April Season 01 of Dear Entrepreneurs has come to an end but the series was a great creative experience and challenge. It was really different to shoot and edit everything from the phone and do less polished content that was still high value. You can do video or YouTube or anything else with the tools you have available to you and I hope this series taught you that if nothing else going forward. One of the questions I get asked the most is "why if you have 100K subs do you not have more views on YouTube". Some have even accused my subs of being fake or not real people. Without sounding too defensive its a really stupid question with a fairly obvious answer. The simple fact is that even with traditional media not everyone watches every show on a channel or every episode of the show they do watch. Period. YouTube is no different and is much noisier and competitive for attention than that. It has nothing to do with subscribers. As for the notion of buying subscribers I've never hidden my disgust for people who do that. It's lame. If I was going to spend money on anything that wasn't the operating of the actual business I do day in and day out I'd spend it on advertising or going to more conferences or jumping ahead on paying taxes or putting more money in my retirement fund. Period. Spending money on YouTube subs or views does nothing for you and doesn't make you any money. Spending money on social media vanity metrics is something only the ignorant do because it doesn't move the needle on their business or their real goals. Just like people who do like for like and sub for sub. I'd rather just spend that money getting my next $5000 client. So I focus on the things that either create value for you guys or adds to the bottom line of my business or grows my personal happiness.
