I don't know when I will ever have enough rocks to make a wall, but it would certainly be doable to do a spiral in he space between pavers as in one of the pictures. I could  use rocks from the landscaping around the house.

Even the large stone stairs seem to "spill" from an upper lawn to a lower one, as water would spill between ponds, in this scene from the upper, walking garden in this otherwise small suburban backyard east of Seattle.  Imagine the boulders as pondside platforms and the Japanese Bloodgrass as cattails in this Zen-like interpretation of a traditional Japanese rock garden. Design by Sander Groves landscapes, Inc.
