Lauren Bacall was an unknown 19 year old, and Humphrey Bogart was a 45 year old movie star when they met in Hollywood in 1944, during the filming of To Have and Have Not (Bacall's film debut). Bogart was instantly smitten with the gorgeous newcomer, while she was grateful that the vetern actor was so kind to her, and their romance began to blossom.
To Have and Have Not (1944) She described to her less-than passive partner that the second kiss was better than the first: "It's even better when you help." She then suggested as she left his room, speaking in a low purring voice: "You know you don't have to act with me.... You don't have to say anything and you don't have to do anything. Not a thing. Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you...? You just put your lips together - and blow."
Deanna Bogart, the first time was at the Coffee Cat in Easton. Went with my friend Carolyn who won tickets. The second time was in Rock Hall during fall fest. Totally cool woman, she not only chatted with us after shows but told us to let her know if we needed tickets the next time she was in town.
