Blue Levee, Rosedale, MS.John Lewis, a Rosedale, Mississippi, native son, and his artist wife, Andrea Drummond, originally from nearby Greenville, moved back from Colorado to open this culinary ode to the Delta in an old gas station. A shanty-style screened porch, reminiscent of sharecropper shacks, opens to the dining room plastered with old license plates, where local bands set up.
The assets of Davis Motorcar Co. were sold for back taxes in May 1950. Sixteen franchise holders, out of 300, formed Delta Motor Car Company in an effort to salvage the car and their investments. Delta tried to have Reliant Engineering Company in Staffordshire, England, manufacture the car in 1953, but investor funds ran out and the enterprise folded.
